Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is mental health awareness week, co-ordinated by The Mental Health Foundation.

These statistics may be familiar: One in four people will suffer a mental illness in their lifetime. The cost to the UK economy of mental health is now £2.4 billion a year. Mental health problems are on the increase.

This year, the Mental Health Foundation have focussed on studying good mental health; how many of us are thriving? Their findings are that a mere 13% of people live with high levels of good mental health.

I found that shockingly low.

Two thirds of people who took their survey reported having had a mental health problem. Two thirds.

I am really glad that awareness is increasing and that there are national campaigns (such as this one) to end stigma and help people do something about it.

So many of my clients come to me with anxiety over situations which seem beyond their control. With just a few one-to-one sessions I’ve helped them learn ways in which to manage their anxiety so that they can go from ‘surviving’ to ‘thriving’. These are tools which they can take with them and use for the rest of their lives.

I want to do my bit to help raise mental wellness – so for this week I am:

1) Offering HALF PRICE life coaching and hypnotherapy sessions if you book this week. Email, call 07545812477 or click here.

2) Re-launching my 6 week course on decreasing stress and anxiety on Wednesday lunchtimes from 12-2pm starting on 7 June. To book click here.

3) Running monthly guided meditation sessions, with the next one on 4th June at 10am.
